SERVICES

MEDICAL CONCERNS

Patients living with chronic conditions can often experience reduced pain and increased mobility with the help of customized physical therapy programs.

Dr. Kristie treats patients with multiple sclerosis, diabetes, fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, Parkinson’s disease, and recurring migraines and headaches.

WOMEN'S HEALTH

Dr. Kristie has taken specialized training to treat women’s health issues that can severely impact quality of life.

Among the women’s health conditions she treats are constipation, painful bladder, pain with sex and painful and tight pelvic floor muscles, stress incontinence, urge incontinence, tailbone pain, endometriosis, pre and post-natal pain and osteoporosis.

Treatment involves postural exercise and alignment, gait analysis, pelvic floor exercise and manual techniques to decrease pain and tension, core strengthening exercise and hip stretching.

INJURY PREVENTION

In addition to treating injuries that have already occurred, physical therapy is effective in keeping injuries at bay.

Dr. Kristie uses effective whole body screening to detect any limitation in movement or body tightness and to identify weaknesses.

Once these limitations have been identified, a program specific to your needs can be designed to keep you healthy and active.

She uses Functional Movement Screening, a system for ranking and grading movement patterns that are important for your everyday functioning. This movement screen is comprised of seven different functional movement tests to identify any deficits in the way you move.

By identifying these issues that can lead to injury and reduce the effects of physical conditioning, she knows what areas need to be worked on and you are then given specific corrective exercises to reduce and eliminate the problems.

ORTHOPEDIC CONCERNS

Many patients come to my clinic for relief and recovery from orthopedic injuries, which are those which impact the skeletal system and its associated joints, muscles and ligaments.

Back and neck pain lead the list of issues, but they also include arthritis, bursitis, shoulder pain, tendonitis, hip and knee pain, degenerative joints and joint replacements, disc injuries and fractures.

With the use of evidence-based physical therapy, a combination of hands-on manual therapy and modalities, I work to get you pain-free and back to your normal level of activity as quickly as possible.

SPORTS INJURIES

Dr. Kristie treats both recreational and professional athletes who have sustained sports injuries. Her goal is to determine the cause and extent of your injury, reduce inflammation and pain, and begin the healing process. She will also work with you to prevent the injury from recurring.

Among the sports injuries she treats are tendon injuries and repairs, muscle injuries, ligament sprains and injuries, dislocations and instabilities, and fracture.

As an athlete herself, she understands the importance of sports and athletics in the lives of my patients and works hard to ensure that you can stay active and enjoy the activities you love.

DRY NEEDLING

Dr. Kristie is certified to offer dry needling for therapy to treat muscle pain, including pain related to myofascial pain syndrome. This practice is also referred to as intramuscular stimulation (IMS).

In the process, acupuncture needles are inserted into the skin and muscle directly at a myofascial trigger point to trigger a twitch response. The result is that it helps the body to improve pain control and reduce muscle tension.
